I gathered its meaning from the further conversation between Chloe and Rowan, but it still was a bit of a bummer.Īfter that case, the second job from the government ensued. As a result, the letter didn’t fit the remaining space and, partly, was shown outside the screen (i.e. When Chloe and Rowan read the threatening letter that had been sent to the missing man, the NVL-mode screen was already filled with the transcript of the worker’s interview from the first case, “Invisible intruders”. There also was a minor (but a bit frustrating) bug during the Chloe’s case. However, when the case was solved and Rowan went to Josh to report on the success, the text hinted that he was solving the case with Stanley and that Chloe solved hers all alone (the lines about it were the same as when Josh and Rowan solved their case). It also feels very odd that Rowan doesn’t mention his previous similar (and very traumatizing) case in any way.ĭuring the Chloe’s case, I didn’t really think that there was an error in the code I thought that the reason of those inconsistencies lay in the difficulty of tailoring the case to the specific place in the story. The story constantly refers to the fact that Rowan is only a newbie he has almost the exact conversation with Josh as he had during his first case with him and we also learn (again) that he is not very good at cooking, and Josh finds the first meal cooked by Rowan very bland. Right then and there it was evident that the case is meant to be solved much earlier. ![]() I chose “Missing person” with Chloe, and that’s when everything went awry. There are only two of them now, “Missing person” and “Serial scammer”. They return to their usual work, and Rowan, again, is expected to choose between cases. As a result, the Minister of Culture was murdered, but Rowan’s colleagues took no part in the fight they weren’t even there. ![]() Then, there was the job with the government when Josh’s agency had to keep vigil at the door of the most probable target. The narrative, as I’ve said, was pretty consistent for that part of the story. The other options still were “Missing person” and “Serial scammer”. After that, my next choices were concerning Josh: I chose to check what he was doing on Mondays and I also chose to tell him about being followed.Īs the first case to help with I chose the case of “Invisible intruders” with Josh (the other options were “Missing person” and “Serial scammer”) and for the second one I chose the case of missing girl, with Josh again. ![]() When the Girl said that they were about to be released from there and that Rowan had to prepare, I chose that Rowan stood up and prepared himself. During Rowan’s stay in a blank room, I kept choosing not to leave the chair. ![]() You deserve tons of praise for your excellent work, and it would be a great shame, if any part of this excellent work proved to be in vain.įor a long while, everything was going pretty well. I really, really want to see this story through in its entirety, and I also would hate, if some trivial coding bug prevented other readers from enjoying it. I believe, the reason lies in some coding error (or errors) that makes the results and consequences of Rowan’s choices to be inconsistent with the said choices, even to the point that, apparently, the majority of endings are unachievable as of now.īelow, I will specify what choices I made and describe what exactly went wrong in my case. Thus, it makes it even more unfortunate that, for now, it is impossible to enjoy the game to its fullest. It is pretty evident how much attention and effort have been poured into it. I love The Stroke of Midnight and feel emotionally involved in the story, very much so. This is a cry from the bottom of my heart, aimed at the developers of this awesome, underappreciated and already very precious to me visual novel.
